January is here and that means one thing – transfer rumours galore!

One player the Royals are known to be interested in is Republic of Ireland U21 international Karl Sheppard. The striker is available on a free transfer from Shamrock Rovers and Reading are in the driving seat for his signature, according to the Reading Post.

Jimmy Kebe has been offered a new two-and-a-half year deal at Reading but the latest club to be linked with the Malian winger is Stoke City (FootballFriendsOnline), after a host of clubs including West Ham and Leicester.

Alex McCarthy has joined Leeds United on loan for a month in order to solve their goalkeeping crisis (Yorkshire Evening Post) – manager Simon Grayson was grateful to Brian for letting McCarthy out to a divisional rival.

Alex Pearce has said he would accept a call-up from Giovanni Trappatoni, should the Republic of Ireland boss include him in the full squad (Sky Sports).

The Royals have nine players away on international duty – they are: Simon Church, Hal Robson-Kanu (both Wales), Adam Federici (Australia), Kaspars Gorkss (Latvia), Bongani Khumalo (South Africa), Mikele Leigertwood (Antigua & Barbuda), Jake Taylor (wales U21), Dominic Samuel (England U19) and Carl McHugh (Ireland U19). Full details of opponents can be found on the OS.

Alex Pearce has again been named in the Championship Team of the Week after his performance against ‘Boro at the weekend (Reading OS).
